→Emma Hart and Dean Kenning, foreward for Poor Things Catalogue
This exhibition brings together sculptures by artists from across the UK. Curated by artists Emma Hart and Dean Kenning, the works reflect the varied experiences of artists from working class backgrounds, while revealing points of connection.
The title refers to Hart and Kenning’s shared love of sculpture’s everyday thingness. It occupies the same space as we do and can be made from ordinary materials. To explore the relationship between art and social class, they brought together some of the best “poor things” made by contemporary UK based artists they had encountered.
